Review: The Prodigal Son

The Prodigal Son
The Prodigal Son by Kimberla Lawson Roby

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rev Curtis Black and his dysfunctional family are back. As both of his sons, Matthew and Dillon fight for love, the battle becomes more than anyone bargained for.

Matthew’s marriage to Racquel spins out of control fast as he struggles with the verbal and physical abuse from his wife. He reminisces about his life before his marriage and how he wished he had listened to his parents and stayed in school. Unable to turn back the hands of time, he becomes content with building a future without Racquel and as a single dad to their son, MJ. As Matthew decides enough is enough, Racquel becomes an imminent danger to herself, Matthew and MJ.

Throughout this story, you will see the highs and lows of Racquel’s mental status. Racquel has no boundaries and will do whatever she needs to do to get back at Matthew and has no problem taking down anyone in her way.

Long lost son Dillon is sick and tired of feeling like an outsider. He wants to have the same type of closeness with Rev. Black that his siblings have but it doesn’t seem like it is going to happen. The more Dillon does to get his dad’s attention, the more it backfires on him.
The two least likely people form a comradery and they plan to take down everyone in the Black family including Matthew. Will Dillon finally get his father’s love? Will Matthew finally be able to break free from Racquel’s abuse?
