NEW RELEASE TOUR: She That Findeth

Can you please tell us who is Kim Brooks.
I'm a lover of all things God, all things love and all things red :)  I love God and His people and I am a purpose-driven woman of God on a mission to edify and encourage women and let single women know there is a man who loves them more than anyone, God, and that He loves them too much to settle and that there is power in waiting for the right one.

What inspired you to write your first book?
I've been writing since first grade and am an English graduate of Michigan State University and always knew I wanted to be an author.  Even in first grade I would write short stories and have an "About the Author" section on the back with my picture drawn and a little about myself.  A few years after my first job out of college, I received the call to the ministry and right after graduating from Bible school I was led to write my first book which is about the challenges and triumphs of three friends (all on different spiritual levels) waiting to be found by love entitled, He's Fine...But is He Saved?  I wanted to write something that I, my friends and other like-minded women can relate to.  I've been writing about "boys" and relationships since first grade so I guess several years later I still do :)

What do you wish more people knew about the publishing side of things?
I wish more people knew that while writing a book is an art form, publishing it is a business and requires a lot of hard work. Many think once they write a book they will automatically sell a million copies without any real effort.  Writing the book is actually the easy part, publishing it is where the real work comes in and just because you may get signed with a major publishing house doesn't mean you're not expected to do the work and promote the book.

What would you consider your greatest accomplishment?
My greatest accomplishment, to me, is perseverance.  I continue to follow my dreams and God-given purpose no matter what and I don't plan on stopping any time soon.

Do you have a philosophy by which you live?

The philosophy I live by is actually a Scripture found in Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

What type of legacy would you like to leave for your readers?
I would like to leave a love legacy - meaning I would like them to know God loves them, no matter their mistakes and no matter their past, God loves them and that God is love.  God's love does not discriminate and He only wants us to do His will according to His Word because He wants what's best for us and He wants us to be blessed with the best.  As a result of whatever I write I want the reader to draw closer to God and flourish in their personal relationship with Him.

How important was a "platform" in selling your books?
A platform is important in that it gives the media a focal point, thus allowing for more media exposure in the form of radio and TV interviews.  I was my publicist, Pam Perry's first fiction client - she was hesitant at first to take me on as a client because she wasn't quite sure of my platform since I had authored a novel.  However when I advised her my platform was abstinence until marriage, she was able to use that to assist in media hits.  No matter what I write, whether self-help books, novels or songs - they all have the same message...abstinence until marriage is the best way to go in relationships.

Do you have book signings coming up where readers can meet you?
?  I just had a release party for my new novel, She That Findeth, here in Detroit which was a great success and I appeared at a Christian Film Festival here locally as well.  Other than that for my out of town readers I am available for a "ladies night out" video chat session upon request at http://www.kimontheweb.com/book-clubs and I can be found online all over the web.

Can you tell us about your upcoming project(s)?
More books and songs.  My newest release is a novel entitled, She That Findeth which is about what happens when a 35-year-old single woman gets tired of waiting on God to send her a husband and sets out to find one on her own.

What advice do you have to an aspiring author?

Whatever you’re working on, finish it. Don’t let your book idea remain an image inside your head, write it. Set time aside to work on your book. Just like we schedule work time or exercise time or dinner time, set aside time to write and work toward it until you’re done.

Set a tentative deadline for your release date, and before your book even comes out start talking about the subject you write about on social media while positioning yourself as an expert – this way it won’t be a surprise when your book comes out, and if others follow you because they like what you’ve been sharing, then more than likely they will buy your book.

Remember, writing the book is the easy part, the real work comes during efforts to get your book out to the masses.

About the Book

Ten years of believing, yet still no husband in sight for Shenita Love. The Bible does say “Wait on the Lord,” which, for Shenita, means waiting for God to deliver her a soul mate. Then again, God helps those who help themselves.

On her thirty-fifth birthday, Shenita’s fear of never starting a family has reached a fever pitch. Her trusty “rule book”—filled with guidelines for dating—simply isn’t cutting it. Soon Shenita is signing up for online dating sites, hitting on men at sporting events, and putting herself out there in ways she never imagined.

When Shenita stops playing by the book and takes matters into her own hands, she finds anything can happen.

Meanwhile, her closest friends are struggling with their own issues of sexuality, acceptance, divorce, insecurity, and financial strain. Always the faithful shoulder to lean on, Shenita wants to be there for them, but her desire to find a man leads her to an unforeseeable circumstance. A place where she must examine her relationship with God and reconsider her priorities.
