1. Can you please tell us who is Gemini Phoenix? 

Gemini Phoenix is a wife, mother, friend, child of God, and entrepreneur!  I chose Gemini Phoenix as a pen name because my zodiac sign is Gemini; which I'm true to, and I feel like the day I started writing (5 years ago), I rose from ashes like a phoenix!

2. What was your inspiration behind "Let's Wait Awhile?"

My inspiration behind Let's Wait Awhile was the fact that I have a teenage daughter who I want to wait to have sex and felt that all teenage girls her age need some type of inspiration to do so.

3. Most of your readers are used to you being an erotica author, why the sudden switch in genre?  How has it been received?

The sudden switch came about from God. He told me that I needed to share what's really going on in the world and help these young girls understand that it's ok not to follow the crowd. It was received well I guess.  My true fans loved it and I've also gained a few fans that has never read any of my erotica books.

4. How much did your own sexuality or life come into play while writing this book?

A great deal of my own sexuality came into play when I wrote this story because I was molested, saw friends go through date rape, suicide, and abusive household environments.

5. Do you have a philosophy by which you live?

The philosophy that I live by is to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I think it's pretty self explanatory. lol

6. What type of legacy would you like to leave for your readers... young and old?

The legacy I would like to leave is that I put my personal experiences into my books so they will know it's real and feel the emotions.

7. How important was a "platform" in selling your young adult books?

A platform is really important when selling or writing any type of book.  I wish I'd done more to get this book out there, but I'm still working in the shadows.

8. Do you have book signings coming up where teen readers can meet you?

 am currently working on an event for May 13th in Newport News as well as securing a spot at Barnes & Nobles for the summer.

9. Can you tell us about your upcoming project(s)?

I have several upcoming projects, but I'm currently working on Let's Wait Awhile 2 and a spin off from my best selling series, Suck Me Dry called That's My Bestfriend!

10. What advice do you have to an aspiring author?

The advice I would give any new author or writer is to pull your stories from within, don't trust everyone who says they want to help, and stay true to God first and He will be true to you always!

Omar knew he had taken a risk showing up at Morgan’s office, but he was desperate. It had taken a lot to persuade Malcolm to share his sister’s information, especially since Omar had declined to say what had happened between them. He toyed with calling first, but changed his mind because he didn’t want to chance her refusing to see him. The woman seated outside Morgan’s office, whom he assumed was the assistant, greeted him with a wide smile and an exaggerated sway of her hips as she led him to the office. Omar ignored the not-so-subtle brush of her breasts against his arm when she turned to leave. In his peripheral vision, he noticed the slight rise in Morgan’s eyebrow and knew she’d seen it, too. He waited until the woman closed the door before turning to face Morgan.

Morgan folded her arms. “What are you doing here?”

“Hello to you, too,” he said.

An embarrassed expression crossed her face. “Sorry. Have a seat.”

Omar took the chair opposite her desk. “I apologize for stopping by without calling, but I figured you wouldn’t see me otherwise.”

“You were probably right. How do you know I won’t call security to throw you out now?”

“I don’t, but I’m counting on your love of football to work in my favor.” They engaged in a stare-down for several seconds until she looked away first.

“How did you know where I worked?”

“Malcolm.” She frowned and he added, “If it’s any consolation, he adamantly refused to divulge your home address.”

“Well, maybe I won’t kill him, after all.”

He chuckled.

“Since you went through all this trouble, I guess I can spare you five minutes.”

Omar knew the mention of football would rouse her curiosity. “I’d like to talk to you about a business proposition.”

“What does that have to do with football?”

“My contract is up for renewal in six weeks and—”

“Don’t you have an agent? If memory serves me correctly, you have one of the best agents around.”

“Things aren’t always as they seem.”

She sat up straight. “What are you saying?”

“I’m saying it’s time for a change, and I’d like you to negotiate my upcoming contract. You’re an attorney and, according to your brother, you know football like you’ve played it all your life.”

Her eyes lit up and her mouth fell open. “Are you serious? Wait a minute.” She sat back again and angled her head. “What about your current agent? Did he dump you or something?”

Omar sighed. “No.” There was more to it, but he would only tell her if she agreed to represent him.

Morgan narrowed her eyes. “There are dozens of sports agents out there, and I’m certain any one of them would be happy to take you on, especially with your numbers from last year. Yet you’re in my office.”

He smiled. “You checked my stats? So, you’re admitting I’ve got game?”

A rush of color darkened her face. “Why me?” she asked, ignoring his questions.

“You want to be an agent, and I need one.” He leaned forward and whispered, “And I know you passed the sport’s agent certification test. It’s a win-win situation for both of us.”

“On second thought, I am going to kill Malcolm,” she muttered.

“I need your help, Morgan. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t.”

“I have to think about this.” She turned slightly in her chair and stared out the window, and then back at him. “You realize I already have a job. And I’m working on a case.”

Omar nodded. “I understand, and I have no problems working around your schedule.”

“Even on weekends or late evenings.”

“Anytime.”

“I see.” She went back to staring out the window.

He could almost hear the wheels turning in her head. She bit down on her lip, drawing his attention and reminding him how much he enjoyed kissing her.

Finally she angled her head his direction. “I’ll agree on one condition.”

“What’s that?”

“You keep your hands and lips to yourself. No more kisses.”

Omar groaned inwardly. There was no way he could go without kissing her. In fact, it had been the first thing on his mind from the moment he saw her today. “Morgan—”

“No. More. Kisses,” she repeated.

Crimson Lyrics is the second collection of poems by master poet, C.b. Roberts. He rivals Poe with his use of metaphors and contradictions, sucking you into the vortex of dark, angry, confused longing for unreturned love. The way he goes from absolute acceptance to complete refusal to surrender in just a few stanzas, astounds me. Just when you think you know where he’s going with a poem, he kicks you in the heart with an ending you didn’t see coming. All of them affected me in some way, especially Escape, Lament, and Shackled. But the title poem, Crimson Lyrics, gutted me, and Tonight completely destroyed me. This is not a collection for the faint of heart as there is no happily ever after. But if you’ve ever experienced the pain of unrequited love or the heartbreak of giving your soul to the wrong person, it is a must read. 5 Stars!

Review: A Thin Line by DL White

Rating: 4 STARS

Who holds a grudge for almost two decades?  Preston Reid  and Angie Campbell does. Though they can't stand to be in the same room together,  their best friends come up with the perfect plan to make them work together or is it?

Although the story has a great storyline and we as women tend to hold onto a grudge a lot longer than necessary,  I wanted to shake some sense into Angie as the grudge storyline was becoming redundant. I enjoyed the flashback to Preston and Angi’s childhood, how they fell in love and how they got to the point where they are now.  Lots of times we are hurt by the ones we love so therefore we refuse to let go of the anger and forgive them. The pain that we experience is often times not worth it  as readers will see.

A Thin Line by DL White has a good plot and great character development.  The characters outlined in the story are very realistic because at one time or another almost every one of us has experienced heartache and anger by someone we love. Once Preston and Angie came together to plan the wedding of their best friends, were they finally able to reconcile and forgive each other? Was Angie finally able to listen to Preston’s side of the story? You have to check out this book to find out.

The shrill ring of her phone brought her back to the present. She sat up against the headboard. Her heartbeat accelerated as she answered the phone. It was Debby.

“Please give me good news.”

Earlier, Ayanti had a breakdown. She had screamed and bawled her eyes out, wishing she was back in Calabar, the capital city of her home, Cross Rivers in Nigeria. It seemed like a lifetime ago she won that competition and left the country.

“Yes, I’m fine, but tell me I can be better.”

“Okay, here’s the deal. Charity for Homes had filled up with court ordered volunteers until next month…”

“I can’t wait that long!”

“Lemme finish, girlie. We were able to get you to volunteer with them not as an individual, but under a church group.”

“A church!” Ayanti wiped her hands across her face. She hadn’t been in one of those in years. Did Debby have any idea the kind of judgment that went on in that place? She’d take her chances with the mean police officer until next month.

“Hear me out. The church volunteers with Homes for Charity as a non-sponsor group. You can be part of those volunteers and when they are not volunteering, you can still make up some hours by working in the church. That way, you can get this thing over with faster. Now tell me that doesn’t beat picking up trash in the streets,” Debby finished.

“But those people would have known what I did. Why I’m there...”

“And? Which one of them there hasn’t done anything bad?” Debby asked. “Girl, think about it. Besides, you have nothing else to lose at this point.”

“I guess you’re right.” Ayanti contemplated the whole arrangement.

“Of course I am.” A beat of silence passed between them. “Now get some rest and I’ll see you tomorrow. Think about it and let me know what you want to do. You have until the end of the week.”

“What’s the name of the church?”

“Ummm...hold on.” The shuffling noise of paper could be heard in the background. “It’s called Calvary Is the Way. It’s on Auburn.”

Ayanti remained silent for a few minutes. After a while they disconnected. Ayanti switched off the television and turned to her side. Calvary Is the Way? She rolled her eyes. These new age churches and their names. What ever happened to churches with sensible names? Like Mount something...
