BLOG TOUR STOP: The Secrets They Kept by Charmaine Galloway

Tell us about Charmaine, who is the lady behind the books
I am a mother of two and I enjoy meeting other people that share the same goals and ideas I have. I love writing reality based stories about impacted people.

What inspired you to write your first book?
My first book is my poetry book and I was inspired to write that book from the events in my life.

What do you wish more people knew about the publishing side of things?
It’s not easy but it’s very rewarding. Inspiring authors need to find an editor that they can trust. They need to know that when the book is published that’s when the real work begins. They have to promote so people to know about their work. There are a lot of steps to take to put out a book, you have to do your research and find what best works for you.

How did you come up with your titles?
The idea and then the story pops in to my mind first and then the title.

What author(s) has influenced your writing style?
Victoria Christopher Murray and Kimberly Roby Lawson

What is the hardest part about writing?
I have not had writers block yet. The hardest part for me is revising the story before it goes to the editor.

How important was a "platform" in selling your books?
I make my own platform because with no platform you can’t meet the readers. Every chance I get I am in someone’s ear talking about my books. I’m a self-published author so I am the only one that will set my platform for my work.

What are your hobbies?
I like reading, writing, making jewelry and traveling with my two children.

Can you tell us about your upcoming project(s)?
My 3rd novel called The Secrets they Kept, was released on 2/8/14 and my next release will be called Tyree’s Love Triangle and that will be released in the summer 2014. I also have a short story called Jordan’s Confession  that will be released this year also.

What advice do you have to an aspiring author?

Research and study your craft. When you are looking for an editor check out their previous work before you hire them to do a job for you. It you have a story don’t let anyone change your mind about what you want to share with the world.

Ms. Galloway is passionate about writing reality based stories about imperfect people. “As a new author I think it is very important that my readers get to know me. I'm a writer with Christian values and I hope to inspire people with the stories that I pen. My characters are everyday people going through struggles and obstacles because life is not perfect. Every story does not have a “happily ever after” ending and neither does real life.”

SYNOPSIS:

It is often said that what a person doesn't know can’t hurt them, but in the case of Brittany, Tyra, and Alisha, what they didn't know not only hurt, for one of them, it killed.

From destroyed marriages and surprise identities to lethal love affairs and drug addictions, the secrets kept from, and by, these women set in motion a chain of events that ripped their worlds apart, threatened to destroy their friendships, and made it impossible for any of them to ever trust again.
