Elizabeth Chalker is still in the furnace of life’s' calamities and fighting the good fight of faith and endurance, keeping her eyes on the prize of heaven. Before serious, physical illness devastated her body, Elizabeth was on the fast track as a successful psychologist and addictions specialist, working with violent juvenile offenders and their families, near completion of her third graduate degree. Her life is a testimony of faith that is steadfast and remains no matter the seemingly dark, unjust, and treacherous circumstances of life. She resides in Lighthouse Point, Florida. Elizabeth continues to minister to those in need and aspires to show God's glory through every breath she takes.
This is a real life story of being in the fire, where I currently remain, where my heart for the Lord has become increasingly insatiable. A deepened intimacy has developed and continues to grow even through this very moment, and will continue beyond. As you read, this is my hope and prayer for you as well.

book cover

I have one book currently, “Hanging On by the Scratch Marks My Nails Left Behind: Raw Faith”. This is a book that was written while still in the midst of trials with no promise for the suffering to end. It took 10 years to write while suffering serious, physical illness. My prayer for the book is to inspire individuals to self-examine and find their core; to realize that we are all children of God and therefore, one in Him. We tend to see life and our circumstances as if from under a quilt as it is being made, where all that is seen is a bunch of haphazard threads from our view. God’s view is from above where everything comes together and forms a beautiful and complete picture.
My hope is also to encourage individuals to seek love and extend love.
One of the most important messages of the book is to strengthen anyone who reads it, to cause him or her to embrace all of who he or she is, the parts we deem ‘dark’ and unacceptable as well as the parts we see as praiseworthy and pleasant.
Most importantly, my hope is that the reader will embrace intimacy in relationship with God and realize that raw expression of heart, no matter how unacceptable to the world, is honorable in the eyes of God and welcomed.

Review: Jordyn: Risqué Behavior

Jordyn: Risqué Behavior
Jordyn: Risqué Behavior by Qiana Rae

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Jordyn was a very beautiful and intelligent woman whose circumstances at home allowed the streets to take over her mind and her body. When the streets is all you know, you become afraid to try something different therefore discounting your worth. But when Jordyn meets the man, Chance who promises to change how Jordyn views life, secrets are revealed and truths send everyone is shock. There are many twists and turns to this story and you will not see them coming!

This is my first read by Qiana Rae but will not be my last. The storyline flowed and at times, you can feel the character’s pain. Great job and I look forward to reading more from you.

Seven Days of Redemption by Dr Shaunte’ McFarland

Having her innocence stolen at the age of four, she would grow up relentlessly betrayed, oppressed, and longing for unconditional love. In Seven Days of Redemption, the companion devotional to the inspirational memoir, “Cinderella’s Still Going to the Ball”, Dr. Shaunte’ McFarland gives an exclusive glimpse inside her process of healing and restoration. This devotional is a seven-day journey of strength, acceptance and grace. Endowing you with the irresistible unction to shout, I Am Redeemed!!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Dr. Shaunte’ McFarland

Instead of giving you a formal third person description of myself, I’m going to be transparent. The same way I present myself in ministry, my book, my blog, the way I am in real life. I’m passionate, enlightening and formalities may dilute the true message of what I want to deliver. I grew up a small town girl who involuntarily learned a lot of things the hard way. My childhood was stolen at the tender age of four and after years of abuse I decided to liberate myself through accomplishments. My trophies and awards shined brightly but my soul grew darker as I started to adopt and carry out self-inflicted abuse. Fearing a return to my impoverished beginnings I became a serial perfectionist. If things weren’t flawless, I would perpetually beat myself up until I fixed it. As I was bringing down the hammer on myself for the umpteenth time, God grabbed my hand and I looked up to behold the Son of Glory. He showed me a new way. I learned that acceptance, forgiveness and grace is more effective in change than punishment. I would continue to fall, but instead of the whip, I used something a lot fiercer: the double-edged Word of God.

Review: Give A Little Love

Give A Little Love
Give A Little Love by Rhonda McKnight

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Brooke Jordan is a broken woman. She has been to hell and back in the past year. Just when she has decided to just give up on love, in walks sexy Marcus Thompson. Marcus refuses to let love pass him by and will stop at nothing to have it once again. Will Marcus be able to break down those barriers that Brooke has erected? Will Brooke be able to love again?

Rhonda McKnight did an excellent job penning this short story on love and forgiveness. The flow was effortlessly and the author developed each character to the point they were relatable. At one time or another, each one of us have gone through the battle in our mind of forgiveness. This book shows that you must forgive because it eats you up inside and blocks the love and blessings that are coming your way. I can not wait to read the sequel.

Review: LOVE'S CULTURE

LOVE'S CULTURE
LOVE'S CULTURE by Angelia Vernon Menchan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Being Muslim, I truly enjoyed this storyline. The story revolves about two characters, Mahad and Sadia. Mahad is a Muslim man who knows what he wants and will stop at nothing to get it even if that means defying his father’s wishes. Sadia is an African American woman business owner who is not sure if she can move out what is common and venture into a relationship with the unknown. Nonetheless, the chemistry between the two is explosive.

The author does an excellent job of combining the cultural differences and how when love is at stake, sometimes you have to throw caution to the wind and go for it. Not everyone will like your decision so you have to be willing to accept that.

I also enjoyed how the author described some of the sensual scenes in this quick read. When Mahad spoke to Sadia about the things he wanted to do to her, whew! Get some ice water and quick. It was definitely foreplay for the mind.

Although a short story, Ms. Menchan developed the characters in a way you can relate to especially since they were embarking on an interracial relationship. The story flowed perfectly and was not rushed. You will not be disappointed with this purchase. I would like to see more from this couple in the near future.
