“If you need me to say it, I’ll say it.”
I held his hands, looked him in his beautiful brown eyes, and said, “I could never cheat on you… You’re the love of my life.”
As soon as I said the words, a dark cloud of guilt washed over me. I felt dirty. My conscience was eating away at me.
When I cheat, I get lost in the excitement. I live in the moment, and I don’t worry about my actions or his feelings. I know it sounds selfish, but with everything that’s wrong with our relationship, I’ve always felt justified doing what I’ve been doing. Right now, I felt like the scum of the earth. Chris looked me deep in the eyes, kissed me, and that warm, loving feeling engulfed me. If only I could have this on a consistent basis.
