Friday Night Love by Tia McCollors

Can you please tell us who is Tia McCollors?
How much space do I have? If I had to sum it up I’d say that I’m a wife, a mother, a lover, afollower of Christ, and a thinker. I’m always thinking about one thing or another whether it’s my daily wifely or motherly duties, thinking about my faith walk, or thinking about the next book I want to write.

What inspired you to write your first book?
I’d experienced a job lay off around the exact time that I’d been praying for divine direction for my life. During that time, God gave me a crystal clear vision about my call to write books and how eventually that would lead to a voice in other arenas. The inspiration for my first book was birthed a lot out of some of my personal experiences.

What do you wish more people knew about the publishing side of things?
Some people believe that securing a publishing deal automatically makes you an instant success or you come into a windfall of money. Although there’s an exception to every rule, it’s typically not the case. Authors often work for years to build their readership and carve their names in this hue publishing mountain.

How did you come up with your titles?
Random titles usually pop into my head. I actually have a list of titles that don’t have a manuscript. When it’s time for me to start another book, there’s usually an appropriate title in my list, although it may have to be tweaked a bit. A title alone can sell a book.

What authors(s) has influenced your writing style?
I think I’ve actually developed my own particular voice. That’s important. You don’t want to sound like you’re trying to mimic someone else.  That would stifle your creativity and the writing process. However, I regularly read and listen to a number of books in different genres (especially bestsellers) because I’m constantly learning how to build a better story and give my readers realistic characters.

What type of legacy would you like to leave for your readers?
One that leaves people uplifted and inspired. I always keep in mind that words live forever. When I write, I write as if God, my grandmother, and my children are looking over my shoulder.

How important was a “platform” in selling your books.
I think I’ve built more of a brand than a platform.  My faithful readers know me for writing books that could easily be their lives or the lives of their girlfriends. No matter how much drama or conflict, they will always see the thread of faith weaved throughout the plot and the characters.

Do you have book signings coming up where readers can meet you?
I love to meet and interact with readers. For me, it’s the best part of being an author. I’ll be around quite a few places over the next couple of months, including:

SYNOPSIS:
Zenja Maxwell's marriage is falling apart, thanks to a dalliance with infidelity on the part of her husband, Roman. She sets off on a cruise with her best friend, Caprice, prepared to give Roman a dose of his own medicine—on the very day he comes home, making promises to change. Zenja isn't convinced. But Caprice comes up with a strategy to salvage the marriage—a seven–step plan developed by her ministry and called "Friday Night Love."

Over the course of seven weeks, the plan outlines a series of assignments based on Ephesians 5:33, helping a wife to cultivate respect for her husband. Rekindling their relationship takes a lot of work, especially when the man with whom Zenja nearly cheated on Roman refuses to step out of the picture. Will their commitment to honor God with their marriage pay off in the end?
